Las Vegas has quite a few themed casinos, and quite a few of them look to bring the feel of another part of the world to the city. Texas Station does just that, bringing a Texas feel to the party, and although this isn’t the flashiest casino hotel in town by any means, they offer great value and a solid casino experience.
That’s exactly what the locals are looking for when they choose their gambling venues, ones that may not be that famous or popular with tourists but may be a great place to gamble at. These locals casinos are generally off the strip, and cater to neighborhoods more, like Texas Station with the people of North Las Vegas, where it is located.
It is owned by Station Casinos, which got its start in 1976 when it opened the Palace Station, considered to be the city’s first locals casino. One of the appeals of these casinos is their offering cheap food as well as a good casino, but this is the sort of thing that tourists like as well, so they do have accommodations for overnight guests as well as catering to the walk up traffic.
Station Casinos now operates 19 casinos, some of them very small, but some quite large, including Texas Station which opened in 1995 and boasts 123,000 square feet of gaming space, which is right up there with many bigger names in Las Vegas. There are only 200 rooms in its hotel, which gives you an idea of how much of their traffic is local, as there are casinos of a similar size that need several thousand hotel rooms to feed it.
Texas Station is actively involved in giving back to the community and runs many fund raising events to benefit the people of Las Vegas, and students at risk in particular.
The Amenities at Texas Station
The 200 rooms at Texas Station may not attract much attention compared to the bigger hotels in town, and Las Vegas has some of the largest hotels globally, but it is a AAA three diamond hotel so they do offer some nice accommodations and at decent prices. The property also has a swimming pool and gym.
Rates here initiate at $59 a night, with packages provided that add even more value, for instance for $62.99 you can obtain a deluxe king room and 2 breakfast meals. The two breakfast buffets are valued at $15 which you obtain for less than $4 additional, and that also provides you an idea of how cheap the food is here.
Although they suggest that the décor is styled in Texas fashion, it’s fairly subtle and definitely tasteful. These are far different from rustic ranch style rooms that one might expect with a Texas theme, there are no steer horns on the wall, these are just plainly nice rooms, comparable to a very high-quality hotel, which this is. The lobby reflects this style beautifully.
The rooms are 360 square feet and are equipped with extras such as both WiFi and fast-speed wired internet, blackout drapes, free local and long distance calling, climate control, a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board. Visitors can choose from a king or two queens, there are no suites here, but this is a hotel more designed for the people.
Several of their hotel guests are specifically from Las Vegas itself, who come here for their holiday stays, and they can stay wherever they wish and are much more familiar with the accommodations here than tourists are, so this communicates something about the place certainly.
The restaurants are quite good for a hotel casino this magnitude, and their award winning Austin’s Steakhouse has been rated one of the top steakhouses in not only the city but the country. Austin’s also celebrated for its great seafood. Families love this place. Austin’s is a significant reason why a lot of individuals come here and may be their top attraction.
They also offer an oyster bar, casual dining at the Grand Café, and what they claim is the top buffet in town. Reviewers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal concur. It’s not just great, it’s also cheap and affordable, all you can consume for just $6.99 for breakfast, $7.99 for lunch, and $9.99 for dinner. No wonder so many residents come here to eat. Casino players with their Boarding Pass card secure even improved deals.
There are also 5 other places you can get food, including Fatburger, Slices Pizzeria, Baja Fresh, Panda Express, and Starbucks.
There’s also the Dallas Events Center which hosts some of the largest concerts in Las Vegas. South Padre provides live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night. There are multiple other bars and lounges on site, as well as a 60 lane bowling center, and a children's care center. Live music is played every night. There are several meeting halls, as well as a wedding venue.
