If you have just landed in Las Vegas and have made your way to the Strip, you will find casino after casino lining the streets. These massive buildings are home to a frenzy of activity no matter where you look, but there is no more chaotic place than the floor of the casino. With waitresses zig-zagging back and forth between patrons, dealers and pit bosses moving about freely, and the general crowd trying to get to wherever it is they would like to go, there is a lot happening all around you. At first glance, it may be difficult to make sense of all that is happening, but when you take a closer look you will find that the casino floor is a wonderfully synchronized epicenter of activity.

In the following few sections we will work to clarify what is going on on the casino floor so that you no longer have to worry or wonder. It may not seem like much, but understanding how the floor works is very important.

How Games Are Separated

In any reputable casino, you will find that the different games available are laid out in strategic fashion. You will find that slot games are generally spread out throughout the entirety of the casino, but you will also find a central bank of slot game after slot game. Slots are a kind of catch-all for casinos in that almost everyone will play them at some point in time. As such, you will find slot games around every corner as the casino is actively trying to lure you into playing.

Apart from that, however, there will also be a central location of sorts where you will find row after row of slot games all bunched together. In most cases, the bank of slot machines is going to be one of the first things that catches your attention.

You will also find that table games are separated and in their own area too. What at first seems like a completely disorganized grouping of tables and machines will quickly begin to make sense. Every casino is set up differently, but most do well to keep games grouped and organized.

Pit Bosses

In addition to the dealers that man tables, you will see people, generally in suits and ties, in their own areas separate from table games. These people are kindly referred to as the pit bosses, and are in charge of making sure that everything on the casino floor is running smoothly and without interruption.

Pit bosses are your key to crisis management. If you feel as though a dealer is trying to scam you, or maybe even feel as though you are not being treated fairly, the pit bosses will be there to assist in resolving whatever issue it is that you are experiencing. Pit bosses are also constantly on the lookout for cheaters and scammers, so if it looks like they are suspicious of everything, that’s because they probably are.

Cashing Out

If you have had a successful day at the casino, you likely want to turn your casino chips into cold, hard cash. If this is the case, you may want to find the casino cashier and do exactly that. Casinos generally do not want you to cash out; they would prefer that you continue to play. Understanding this, it might make a little more sense why the cashier is often located in a nondescript part of the casino that is not exactly easy to find. Still, if you ask a casino employee, they will be able to quickly and easily point you in the direction of the cashier.

Playing Games

Obviously, if you are on the floor of a casino you are likely trying to play as many casino games as you can. After all that is the point of going to the casino. When it comes time to play a game, doing so is really quite simple. When it comes to slot games, simply sit down in an open seat and begin playing. In fact, the same set of standards applies to table games as well. Though it may seem intimidating, sitting down at a game is a necessary thing to do if you want to make the most out of your time at a casino.

All in all, the casino floor is not nearly as confusing as it seems at first glance. The flashing lights, loud noises, and frenzied activity can be intimidating, but it really shouldn’t be. Casinos operate to make you feel at home, and if that is not how you feel at a given casino then you should take your money elsewhere. The casino industry is far too competitive nowadays to have someone waste their time on the floor of a sub-par casino establishment. Even in Las Vegas, casinos should be held to the highest of standards and should not actively be keeping players away for any reason at all.
